About the job

The Island Private School of Limassol in Cyprus opened for the first 500 students in September 2022. As an ambitious polysystemic school we are now planning to launch our Montessori curriculum and we are now looking for competent, experienced and, above all, passionate Montessori Pre-Primary Lead Teacher to join our team for the academic year 2025-2026.

In this sunny, safe and by the sea side of the earth, we are also in the process of building our new school campus on a beautiful 50,000 m2 site, that will include kindergartens, elementary and high schools, an international boarding school, and accommodation for teachers. This is a great opportunity to join a growing school on the cusp of a major turning point.

Responsibilities:

  • Observing, guiding, supervising, and assessing children while they learn in the classroom environment.
  • Developing lesson plans, independent learning exercises, curricula, and methods that cater to the needs of the individual child.
  • Creating and maintaining a safe, clean, stimulating classroom where all children feel safe and valued.
  • Establishing rapport and building relationships with students based on trust.
  • Setting an excellent example for students and instilling good values in them like honesty, accountability, understanding, tolerance, respect, love, and kindness.
  • Monitoring and assessing student progress and writing up reports.
  • Ensuring classroom supplies and equipment are available and in working condition.
  • Updating records on the school database and handling various other administrative tasks.
  • Participating in school activities and accompanying students on field trips.
  • Interviewing and assisting with the training of all new teachers.

Qualifications:

  • Montessori certified CASA 3-6.
  • Bachelor’s degree in education would be considered an advantage.
  • Professional Educator Diploma or other teacher qualification if available would be advantageous (e.g. QTS, PGCE).
  • Passionate about alternative education.
  • An ability to teach groups of children of varying ages, needs, and abilities.
  • Patience and excellent observational, communication, and diagnostic skills.
  • The ability to multitask, keep calm under pressure, and treat everyone with love and respect.
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills.
  • A lifelong learner who can be a good role model for children.

Recruitment process:

  • Panel interview including the Head of School, Principal of Pre-Primary, Montessori Pre-Primary Lead Teacher and Employee Success Manager (30-45 minutes).
  • Online trial lesson (60 minutes).
