Job Description

Parklane Resort & Spa is looking to hire a Finance Director.

Main responsibilities

  • Engages in strategic planning and decision making by understanding the priorities and strategic focus of the owners, attending meetings and communicating with the owning group’s CFO and management team and delivering on the needs of key stakeholders
  • Leads the Finance team, develops and communicates strategic goals, focus and priorities
  • Guides and supervises day-to-day operations of accounting & finance function
  • Designs and manages the implementation of accounting procedures in accordance with the industry’s highest standards
  • Oversees accounting department to ensure adherence to the monthly-cycle procedures, error-free recording of transactions, timely month and quarter closing and production of accurate management accounts and financial statements in accordance with international financial reporting standards (IFRS)
  • Oversees preparation of all financial reports and forecasts according to the established schedule to assist management’s reaction to business changes and informed decision making
  • Monitors revenues/expenses to ensure accurate recording of information to established guidelines
  • Reconciles the balance sheet to ensure that account balances are supported by appropriate documentation in accordance with standard operating procedures
  • Designs and implements a system of appropriate internal controls to manage business risks, according to hotel industry’s best practices and local law, to include income auditing, purchasing, cash handling, receipts, disbursements, expendable / fixed asset inventory and payroll
  • Monitors the purchasing process and accounts payable, observing proper controls are in place
  • Ensures a strong accounting and operational control environment to safeguard assets, improve operations and profitability
  • Manages and co-ordinates the internal, external and regulatory audit processes including the annual statutory financial and tax audits
  • Ensures compliance with management contract and reporting requirements thereof
  • Leads the creation of the annual operational budget, in co-operation with the hotel’s GM, identifying opportunities for cost-saving and improved profitability
  • Monitors budget execution and investigates variances to determine cause and recommends appropriate management response to ensure fulfilment of hotel’s financial objectives
  • Reports to and advises the GM and the Group CFO on existing and evolving operating / financial issues
  • Manages Treasury activities including relationships with banks, loan monitoring and servicing, cash flow and working capital management and forecasting
  • Leads tax planning and ensures compliance with local tax laws at all times
  • Monitors and reviews the preparation of monthly hotel payroll



  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting / Finance / Business Administration or related discipline
  • ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified
  • 8-10 years of post-qualification experience, 5 years of which as a financial controller and / or finance director in an up-scale (4/5 star) hospitality environment
  • Experience in luxury hotels will be considered an asset
  • Good understanding of IFRS
  • Knowledge of the taxation laws in the Republic of Cyprus
  • Familiarity with hotel operating systems and ERPs (e.g. Sun, Opera etc.)
  • Proficient user of Microsoft MS Office and Excel in particular
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken, in English and Greek
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Team spirit and high sense of responsibility
  • Ability to work under pressure with various stakeholders and meet tight deadlines
